About Us
WAA is a not-for-profit organization open to people of all ages with the desire to learn more about astronomy and who share an interest in viewing the universe. We range from enthusiastic amateurs and educators to casual stargazers and families.
WAA was founded by three friends who wanted to help the general public see Halley's Comet during its 1986 flyby. They went on to found Westchester Amateur Astronomers in 1991. Our activities include monthly presentations by respected names in astronomy and related sciences and observing nights beneath Westchester's darkest skies.
